RFSL:s arbete vilar på den självklara grunden att mänskliga rättigheter är universella och odelbara – att de gäller oss alla, alltid. Många påverkas oerhört av denna konflikt, både historiskt och nu, och händelserna sker inte i ett vakuum.
Nyligen publicerade RFSL ett uttalande på vår hemsida men det beskrev inte tillräckligt tydligt vår position. Vi står fast vid de åsikter som uttrycks nedan:
– Situationen i Gaza innebär ett enormt mänskligt lidande och stora förluster av civila liv. RFSL fördömer det utbredda våldet mot civila. Israel har ett ansvar att följa internationell lag.
– RFSL stödjer kravet på en omedelbar och varaktig vapenvila.
– RFSL stödjer till fullo kraven på att tillgång till humanitärt bistånd och hälsovård säkras och upprätthålls. Den humanitära rättens implementering behöver respekteras fullt ut.
– RFSL fördömer allt dödande av civila.
– RFSL fördömer Hamas terrorattacker den 7 oktober och det mänskliga lidande som attackerna har orsakat. RFSL fördömer tagandet av gisslan och kräver att gisslan omedelbart friges.
– RFSL stöder till fullo Internationella domstolens beslut, baserat på folkmordskonventionens förpliktelser. Beslutet måste följas.
Vi ser med stor oro på hur situationen i Gaza får återverkningar runt om i världen, däribland i Sverige, vilket resulterat i antisemitiskt såväl som islamofobiskt hat. Vi reagerar starkt på hur hbtqi-frågor används som ett verktyg i konflikten. Det är mörka tider med ökande hat mot utsatta grupper.
Hbtqi-personer kan utsättas för en extra sårbarhet i krig, humanitära kriser eller under terrorattacker. Hbtqi-personer, i Israel och i Palestina, såväl som på alla andra platser i världen, har rätt till skydd, rätt till mänskliga rättigheter och rätt till ett liv i frihet.
Statement on Gaza
RFSL’s work rests on the self-evident foundation that human rights are universal and indivisible – that they apply to all of us, always. RFSL acknowledges that many are impacted by this conflict, both historically and now, and that the current events do not take place in a vacuum.
A statement was recently published on our website but it did not clearly enough describe our position. RFSL stands firmly in the sentiments expressed below:
– The situation in Gaza is dire with massive human suffering and loss of civilian lives. RFSL condemns the widespread violence against civilians. Israel has a responsibility to abide by international law.
– RFSL supports the demand for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
– RFSL fully supports the demands that access to humanitarian aid and health care is secured and maintained, by fully respecting Humanitarian Law implementation.
– RFSL condemns any and all killing of civilians.
– RFSL condemns the terrorist attacks by Hamas on October 7 and the human suffering they have caused. RFSL condemns the taking of hostages and demands the immediate release of all civilian hostages.
– RFSL fully support the ruling of the International Court of Justice, based on the obligations of the Genocide Convention. It must be obeyed.
We watch with great concern how the situation has repercussions around the world, including in Sweden, resulting in anti-Semitic as well as Islamophobic hatred. We react strongly to how LGBTQI issues are being used as a tool in the conflict. These are dark times with increasing hatred against vulnerable groups.
LGBTQI people can be subjected to an extra vulnerability in war, humanitarian crises or during terrorist attacks. LGBTQI people, in Israel and in Palestine, as well as in all other places in the world, have the right to protection, the right to access human rights and the right to a life in freedom.
