Trans and gender non-conforming persons’ organising in East Africa.

InternationalRFSL

During 2018 RFSL begins a new cooperation with the regional organisation EATHAN – East Africa Trans Health & Advocacy Network.

EATHAN works to strengthen intersex, trans and gender non-conforming people’s organizing and rights in five countries in East Africa – Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.

EATHAN has its secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya, but is a coalition of organisations and activists striving for an East Africa where everyone can enjoy the same rights and be able to live free lives without violence and discrimination, regardless of gender identity, gender expression and gender characteristics.

The project, which is run with the support of Forum Syd, focuses on creating opportunities for EATHAN to establish itself as a regional actor, develop structures for organizing, and to find ways to finance its work.
