RFSL on EuroPride: We’ll never let right-wing extremists win

RFSL strongly condemns the Serbian police’s decision to cancel the EuroPride parade 17th of September in Belgrade.

– It’s concerning and shocking. Belgrade Pride has all of our support in their attempts to change this decision. No matter what we’ll never let right-wing extremists win, says Trifa Shakely chairperson of RFSL. 

The president of Serbia has earlier announced that EuroPride will be cancelled, citing risk of clashes with right-wing extremists. This weekend there were additional protests held in Belgrade against EuroPride. Yesterday, the police announced that the parade will not be permitted. Officially, only the route is banned, but this will of course make it difficult to carry out the parade.
