Why your support matters
The LGBTQI movement has made significant progress in recent decades. More people than ever live in countries where LGBTQI is not a crime, where same-sex marriage is permitted, and where the fundamental human rights of LGBTQI people are respected.
But there’s still a lot left to do. In over 60 countries, LGBTQI identities are still criminalised, and in 12 of them, LGBTQI people risk facing the death penalty simply for being who they are. Pride events have recently been banned in Hungary. In the United States, crucial HIV prevention programmes have been cut, putting up to three million lives at risk over the next five years. LGBTQI people are an especially vulnerable population.

Through our award-winning RFSL Newcomers programme, we support LGBTQI asylum seekers with legal guidance and safe spaces to connect.

We collaborate with over 50 LGBTQI organisations around the world, many in countries where LGBTQI people face persecution or criminalisation.
