Open Call for Applications: The Intersectionality Fund
RFSL – The Swedish Federation for LGBTQI Rights – is happy to launch the Intersectionality Fund, a dedicated initiative to explore and strengthen grassroots LGBTQI+ organizing across the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region. We recognize that true liberation and resilience within the movement cannot be separated from the struggles against other structural exclusions. By supporting projects at the crossroads of multiple identities, this fund aims to empower organizations in their collective efforts, foster mutual learning, and build a stronger foundation for long-term advocacy and resourcing.
WHAT: RFSL offers funding for up to 100 000 SEK (approx: 9 000 Euros) for 8 months. The thematic areas below are illustrative examples, and applications are welcome beyond this list:
• Displacement & Migration: LGBTQI+ communities navigating the realities of internal displacement or migration status.
• Dis/ability & Ableism: Activism confronting the regional culture of ableism and building accessible spaces.
• History, Memory & Knowledge: Documenting, preserving, and archiving LGBTQ+I stories, historical narratives, and regional knowledge.
WHY: This funding aims to support organizations, local initiatives, and activist collectives that are anchored within LGBTQI+ communities and want to work at the intersection of other forms of identities and systematic exclusions. As the intersectional work is often driven not by large institutions, but by individual advocates and small-scale, grassroots initiatives, therefore, we strongly encourage these smaller, dedicated groups to apply.
WHO: We welcome applications from all groups that are led by and/or focus their work on bi+, intersex, lesbian, and trans* communities and their intersectional identities based or working in the Eastern Partnership countries. WHEN: The deadline to apply is 9 August, 2026, 23:59 CET.
HOW: All applicants should submit complete applications – proposal, and budget to grants_eap@rfsl.se.
